It’s the kick-off of Trivia Tuesday. Get your brains ready.
5 songs. A 1-second clip from each. Name as many as you can. Go.
Winner will be chosen via a scientific process of randomization (most likely the famed “eenie meenie miney mo” process introduced to academia in 1869) from those answers with the most (or all) correctly identified songs.
A note: Reblog if you will - but DON’T reblog with any guesses. Don’t let anyone else steal your music recognizing genius! Answer at triviatuesday.tumblr.com/ask. You have until Wednesday 2/10 at 1pm to submit your answers. For the complete Trivia Tuesday rulebook, click here.
*Thank you to Matt Smith for cranking out this mp3 with his fancy music equipment.
Just when you thought it was safe to just enjoy music because it sounds pretty…Now you’re going to need to unleash the trivia monster in your noggin to help you name some songs!
5 songs, 1 second each, something in common…But what is the common link? That’s not the question today, just name the songs and artists if you can, but if you can name what they have in common, we’ve got a hearty handshake for you the next time we meet in real life.
Remember to provide your answers on our ask page.
The winner of this week’s trivia contest will receive used DVD copies of 2 movies! That could be as much as 6 hours of entertainment if the movies are both 3 hours long! MATHS!
The identities of the DVDs are yet to be determined…But if you win you’ll get an opportunity to choose from several. Rest assured, we won’t totally snow you with some bullshit dollar-store crap. Probably. Whatever, they can be your free coasters from the internet.
*Once again, a big brassy thanks to Matt Smith for clipping the clips together!
Ok dummies. This week’s participation is like, the worst. Matt has done a re-edit of the 5 songs, this time with the CHORUS of each. I will weep if no one gets this.
Ok. So, here we are. Another audio post. 90 mins late. This is what I get for coming up with shit last minute. Today we have for you 11 Television Theme songs, plus a bonus theme. Why 11? A nod to Spinal Tap? Nope. I added one more song than I intended in Garageband and said fuck it. Keeping it. As for the Bonus Theme, Taylor and I were interested to see if anyone knows it. (That makes 12 total. I know these are totally random numbers. Just shut up and answer, ok?)
The shows are from the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s current, cartoons, sitcoms, dramas, yadda yadda. Don’t look for a theme, like all 80’s nostalgia or whatever. There ain’t one.
Get a point for each show you correctly identify. The SHOW. Not the name of the song. And if you get the bonus show, you get 2 points WHAT WHAT. HOP TO IT.
The prize: let’s up the ante a bit, go from useless and cheap, to useFUL and cheap: two packs of ramen and a box of Kraft Mac n Cheese. I’ll even throw in some plastic cutlery so you can spend as little time as possible cooking and washing dishes and more time watching TV.
Of course on the day we’re featured on Tumblr Tuesday, getting a whole gang of awesome new followers, we’re crazy tardy. OF COURSE. Welp, sorry to keep you guys waiting. So much insanity at our respective offices today.
Welcome to all the new people and we hope you’ll like today’s trivia offering, a little Name that Tune action.
5 songs. 1 second (or thereabouts) clip of each. And of course there’s a theme here. These are all songs commonly associated with a movie. Give as much info as you can. The artist, the song title, the movie each song is from. Don’t know ‘em all? Answer anyway. You could still come out victorious.
And what does one get this week for victory? You choice of two random seasons of TV shows I have just kinda chillin on my DVD shelf: Arrested Development Season 2 or Family Guy Season 3. I KNOW RIGHT? Stellar prizes from the “I need to get rid of this stuff” pile in my house.
We’ve made you another mixtape! Except, as usual our boombox got some sand in it and that screwed up the recording, making it so that only little bits of the songs came through. The other thing is, we totes forgot to write out a list of the songs! So if you could do that for us, that would be tremendous.
Okay, no more make-believe play-pretending: Here are clips from 10 songs…Name the title and the artist as well as you can for each. One point for the artist, one point for the song title. There is a theme connecting them…1 sparkly bonus point if you can tell us the theme!
The prize this week, a book from my shelf of Books That I Didn’t Really Read but Still have For Some Reason:

I am a self-proclaimed expert at identifying celebrity voice work for commercials. So I was going to test your knowledge of those but it’s too easy to cheat. So I spent my entire morning not doing my work and searching for clips of celebrities talking. We have ten. Name as many as you can.
Now, since these clips are longer than the 1 second blips you get for Name That Tune, making a long mp3 would be way too annoying. Tumblr isn’t very nice about letting users add code, so I made a really beautiful and elegant webpage with 10 sound clips.
CELEB PORN VOICE CLIPS ARE HERE
Listen. Identify. Answer.
This week’s prize is a t-shirt. It’s ugly. We got a bunch from our webdesign company. It’s an extra large. It’s yours.

Hey kids. I almost forgot that today was Tuesday since I still haven’t exited “long weekend mode” and refuse to actually produce a work product today. But fear not. TheMattSmith made us a bunch of Name That Tunes a while back and I’ve got one for you to take a stab at.
Five songs, get a point for the artist, a point for the song name. Answer as many as you can. Go.
Today’s prize is going to be something from the bag of wonder. I told you I forgot today was tuesday, so I didn’t bring anything to work. I also left my keys at home so you can see the state of mind I was in (zombie) when I left the house this morning. It’ll probably be something like some Star Trek Pez dispensers or something. Fun shit.
This week we put movie trivia and music trivia together into a blender and hit “puree” to bring you this set of film score clips!
Ten musical clips of about 2 seconds each (since these aren’t chart-topping hit songs, we felt like we needed to give you a little more than usual), just waiting for you to name what movie* they were written for.
As usual, leave your answers here.
Kia forgot to send me a picture of whatever junk amazing prize she picked out, but rest assured it will be terrible awesome.
